About Bayou St. John
Known as a gem of a neighborhood on the river, Bayou St. John is a popular place to live in New Orleans. It's found near Mid-City and includes many historic landmarks throughout. The neighborhood is bound by Esplanade Avenue to the north, St. Louis Street to the south, the Bayou St. John waterway to the west and North Broad Street to the east.
Bayou St. John is known as a neighborhood with beautiful tree-lined streets and excellent gathering places. It's also known as a very replacing area near the water and much more tranquil compared to some of the other areas found throughout New Orleans.

Many of the homes in Bayou St. John are typical styles you'd expect to find in New Orleans. Plenty of affordable options are found throughout and the neighborhood offers something to suit just about any budget. Single family homes in the neighborhood sell for around $370K, on average, while condos go for about $156K, on average.
The neighborhood is found close to Treme, City Park, Mid-City, Faubourg St. John and the Fairgrounds neighborhood. This provides residents with plenty of nearby options for things to do.
Shopping, Dining & Entertainment
The real estate found in Bayou St. John isn't just residential. The neighborhood provides a nice business district, along with some medical services and industrial properties. It's a unique blend of diversity with plenty of shopping, dining and entertainment to offer.
Many of the shops and boutiques found within the neighborhood are locally owned. The neighborhood is home to many popular restaurants and some of the best local retailers you will find. In addition, you'll find a few good museums throughout the area.
City Park is nearby and so are the Mid-City cemeteries, which are some of the best in the area. The outdoor patios at the different cafes and restaurants on Esplanade Avenue provide a great place to enjoy a drink or a meal. City Park offers a number of great activities and it's one of the largest urban parks in the entire country.
Of course, if you just want to relax, a walk along Bayou St. John is always a good idea. The Bayou offers plenty of walking and biking trails with some historic homes and other landmarks found nearby.
Two of the most popular places to go in the neighborhood are Finn McCool's Irish Pub and Fairgrounds Coffeehouse. Finn McCool's is known as the place to watch soccer games on TV and they also hold a weekly trivia night. They serve up sophisticated pub food, as well.

Choosing to call Bayou St. John home means you'll gain access to some of the best areas of New Orleans. This neighborhood isn't party central, but there are still plenty of great events and places to go throughout. In addition, it's close enough to other popular New Orleans areas that you can enjoy the best the city has to offer, while escaping back to your tranquil home when it's time to kick back and relax.
